The Bill to give effect to the Lansdowne Road Agreement has been published.

Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin, in publishing the legislation, praised the role of public servants in maintaining delivery of services during the years of crisis.

The Bill has begun the process of reversing pay and pension cuts introduced for public sector staff since 2008.

The deal restores around €2,000 to the pay of most public servants by 2017.

The INTO says the flat rate increase will benefit lower paid teachers and is an important part of the deal.
