ISME seeks eradication of public sector inefficiencies
08/04/2005 - 12:51:02The Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association has called for a "value-for-money audit" throughout the public sector to eliminate inefficiencies and wastage.
The association made the call in response to CSO figures showing that the inflation rate for services was 19 times the inflation rate for goods during the month of March.
ISME chief executive Mark Fielding claimed much of the increase in the cost of services was being driven by public sector inefficiency.
"We would initially be looking for a value-for-money audit right across the public sector," he said.
"It's something we've been looking for for years, but it's falling on deaf ears and all we get on the other side is benchmarking awards for an inefficient service."
