The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed up 64.48 points to 2,937.59 today, a gain of 2.24%.
Among the risers, Aer Lingus added 5c to €0.94 after the airline today said it expected to at least break even in 2010. Also in the black were CRH, up 68c to €16.34; Smurfit Kappa, adding 31c to €7.70; Glanbia, up 11c to €3.26; Ryanair, lifting 10c to €4.05 and Kerry Group, up 39c to €24.65.
Financial stocks were mixed, with AIB up 2c to €0.90 and Bank of Ireland adding 3c to €0.73, but Irish Life & Permanent slipping 1c to €1.56.
On the fallers' board, Merrion Pharmaceuticals slid 15c to €3.85 and Elan Corp was down 12c to €3.76.
