ISEQ up more than 1%

The ISEQ index of Irish shares gained 36.30 points today, but still stubbornly refused to top the 3,000 mark, finishing on 2,987.18 points.
In the financial sector, Irish Life and Permanent was the only faller, losing 8c to €4.65. Bank of Ireland (up 1c to €1.88) and Allied Irish Banks (up 2c to €1.94) both inched up.
The food and drink sector enjoyed a positive day. Kerry Group led the way, finishing 39c to the good on €20.89. C&C Group improved 12c to €2.59.
Elsewhere, both CRH and DCC gained 17c to finish on €17.37 and €19.40 respectively.
Dragon Oil enjoyed a 21c jump to €4.93, with Paddy Power going one better (up 22c to €24.62).
Ryanair jumped 15c to €3.01. Both FBD and Irish Continental Group closed up 10c to €6.90 and €13.40 respectively.
The only loss of significance came for Smurfit Kappa, which fell 20c to €6.10.
