ISEQ up almost 1%

The ISEQ index of Irish shares responded to market gains worldwide today by climbing 25.88 points to 3,014.20.
There was some positive news in the financial sector. Irish Life and Permanent climbed 4c to €3.20, with Allied Irish Banks not far behind, up 3c to €1.25. Bank of Ireland was unchanged at €1.32.
Icon enjoyed the biggest gain, up €1.45 to €18.45. There were some significant improvements for Kerry Group (up 37c to €21.38), CRH (up 23c to €17.87) and Paddy Power (up 21c to €24.20) also.
CPL was up 12c to €2.30 and Elan improved 10c to €5.49.
The only significant loss came for Irish Continental Group, which fell 18c to €14.02.
