The ISEQ index of Irish shares continued on its upward trajectory today, rising 34.76 points to 7347.58.
Most of the financial heavyweights were in positive territory. AIB rose 13c to €18.38 and Anglo Irish Bank rose 15c to €12.67. Bank of Ireland rose 2c to €13.42, but Irish Life & Permanent slipped 1c to €16.92.
Bookmaker Paddy Power rose €20c to €12.30.
Pharmaceutical company Elan suffered one of the day's heaviest losses, falling 21c to €11.36.
Meanwhile, FBD continued to slide, shedding 40c to close at €36.70.
