ISEQ down, significant gain for IAWS

The ISEQ closed down 15.32 points at 8705.08 today.

Food group IAWS had the best performance of the day, closing up 70c (1.4%) at €17.80.

C&C fell 27c (2.1%) at €12.68.

Elan slipped 44c (3.9%) to €10.95.

Technology group Icon rose 95c (3.2%) to €30.27. Business support services company DCC closed up 20c at €22.20.

Irish Continental finished the day down 32c (2.4%) at €13.08.

Aer Lingus fell 5c (1.8%) to €2.79, while Ryanair gained 6c to €9.51. The president of the European Commission told the Taoiseach this afternoon that he will decide his stance on Ryanair's attempted takeover of Aer Lingus early next month.

CRH closed down 28c (1%) at €27.52.

Allied Irish Bank fell 14c to €21.56, despite predicting strong results for this year.

Anglo Irish Bank was the day’s busiest share and gained 12c to €14.71.

Irish Life and Permanent closed up 11c at €18.86, while Bank of Ireland rose 10c to €15.95.

Tullow Oil lost 3c to €6.05, after reporting results from test drilling at a North Sea well.
