Irish hospitality sector conference takes place in Clare

The annual conference of the Irish hospitality sector is taking place in Clare today.

The conference, which will discuss how the industry has been faring over the last year, is being held in the Armada Hotel, and will feature contributions from a number of industry representatives, including those from the hotel, B&B and hostel sectors.

The National Accommodation Awards will also be awarded tonight.

Marian Murnan of the Irish Accommodation Services Institute, who is also one of the longest serving members of staff in Clare's Armada Hotel, said there had been a turn-up in the industry.

"In previous years in the month of January, we would close (the Armada Hotel) from Monday to Thursday, but this year we're open and quite busy."
