An Irish company has won a European Space Agency contract to make a sunscreen for satellites.
Dublin-based Enbio has been awarded a €500,000 contract to make a black surface that will protect satellites being sent to the sun.
The contract will also enable Enbio to establish its first manufacturing facility at its headquarters at NovaUCD, the Centre for New Ventures and Entrepreneurs, at UCD.
A European Space Agency project will launch a satellite to the sun in 2017.
