Construction activity in Ireland decreased at the fastest pace last month, a rate of decline not seen since September of last year.

According to the Ulster Bank Construction PMI for August, activity in the sector fell to 40.7 - down from 42.2 the previous month.

Economist with Ulster Bank John Fahey has said there is very little the Government can do to invigorate the industry.
