Farmers are today calling on the Government to do more for the agricultural sector, saying lower income earners have taken huge hits over the last two years.
Speaking this afternoon in Kilkenny, IFA president John Bryan said Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney ha overseen deep cuts to farm schemes which have left small farmers struggling to cope.
According to the IFA, spending on farm schemes has fallen by almost 20% in two years.
Mr Bryan also attacked the Government's spending on the overall farming sector, saying agriculture accounts for just 2% of current Government expenditure.
