Hotel dedicated to gaming opens in Amsterdam
Amsterdam, home of sex in shop windows, weed in cafes, bicycles on the streets and now… gaming in hotels? A hotel catering exclusively to video game enthusiasts has opened in the city, with enough geeky gadgets to ensure punters won’t want to leave their rooms.
The Arcade Hotel is located in the city’s De Dijp area and consists of 36 rooms, each decked out with consoles and games.
For those who actually feel like venturing outside their rooms, there’s also a comic book library and a bunch of handheld consoles for multi-player games at the hotel bar.
Owner Daniel Salmanovich told VG 24/7, “[I've remodelled] this hotel into a special place for people who love gaming. I wanted to create a place where travellers and gamers feel like they are staying at a friend’s home.” Or at least their parents’ basement.
#hypeAF: Tourist hotspot Amsterdam is now home to the world's first hotel dedicated to serving the needs of gamers of all ages. #TheArcadeHotel includes 36 rooms with access to a vast selection of the latest consoles and games, in addition to retro devices for the more seasoned fanatic. Gaming events are regularly hosted in its common areas, and a comic book library is also present for guests to peruse. Find out more at hypebeast.com.
As if vintage games consoles and comic books weren’t enough to get you hurling your credit card at your computer whilst screaming “TAKE MY MONEY”, the hotel also offers live music and a DIY waffle maker.
Rooms start at €94.50 (£71.83), head over to their website for more info.
