Google named as Ireland's most reputable company
Internet giant Google has been voted the most reputable company in Ireland for the third year running.
The Corporate Reputations’ annual Ireland RepTrak study for 2012 shows Kerry Group, Apple, Cadbury and Volkswagen all in the top five.
The Cadbury Group is now part of Kraft Foods.
Of the 101 largest and most visible organisations measured Kerry Group experienced the most significant improvement in its reputation this year.
It increased its score by almost 10 points - to 79 out of a possible 100.
However the lowest scoring organisation was John Player & Sons.
Other Irish names on the list include: Easons, Bord na Móna, Superquinn and An Post.
Some 78% of the firms measured have seen their reputation fall over the last 12 months,
The report says even the top 20 firms dropped scores by an average of 3%.
Google was the only one to score over 80 points, this compares to six companies last year.
Speaking at an awards event this morning,, Niamh Boyle, Managing Director, Corporate Reputations, said: “The rules of engagement have changed and stakeholders now watch everything that a company does from the way it treats its workforce, whether it behaves ethically and supports good causes to its leadership and financial results.
"It is simply not an option to sit out this quarter or ignore industry threats."
