First 'finders fee' jobs announced24/05/2012 - 13:08:05
The first jobs on the Government's scheme to pay up to €1,500 'finders fee' for each position created here are being announced today.
American engineering company InterGeo is to create 30 jobs in Carlow.
It will employ engineers and ordinance surveyors, who will do online work for construction projects around the world.
The jobs were initially earmarked for Scotland, but were diverted here after a Carlow woman made contact.
Terry Clune is Chairman of Connect Ireland, the agency responsible for administering the scheme, said: "A Carlow family reached out to people they knew in the US, the US company was looking to set up an operation in Scotland.
"But the family introduced us, we got involved, and now that company is setting up in Carlow.
"It's a great success. They've been able to do their bit to help the Irish economy and help get Ireland back on track. It shows everybody can help.
"But in their case, they're going to be earning quite a significant reward, absolutely."
