Fáilte Ireland to set out plans to boost business tourism

Business tourism is worth more than €500m to the Irish economy every year, it has been claimed.

Fáilte Ireland is holding its Business Tourism briefing in Dublin today, where it will highlight its plans to boost the area further.

It will also launch its Conference Ambassador programme, whereby Irish professionals are encouraged to collaborate with Fáilte Ireland to help bring in conferences to Ireland.

Keith McCormack, head of business tourism for Fáilte Ireland, says business tourism contributes an increasing amount of revenue to the economy each year.

"It's something that has been growing over the last number of years," he said.

"If you compare 2011, which is the last time we have figures, to about 2005 and 2004, it's up from about €250m-€300m," he said.
