Exchequer Returns show Ireland is half a billion better off than a year ago

The latest Exchequer Returns show Ireland is half a billion euro better off than it was a year ago.

In the first two months of the year, Ireland recorded a surplus of €310m.

Tax income is rising, while government spending is largely unchanged.

However several categories of tax came in below expectations - VAT is 5% lower than planned.
