Eircom has announced this morning that its deal with Vodafone is to go ahead, following a meeting of shareholders set for May 11.
As a result Eircom shareholders will receive one share in a new company called Eircell 2000 for each Eircom share they hold.
Eircell is Ireland’s biggest mobile network and negotiations over its sale to Vodafone have been going on for months.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Eircom company’s services are being targeted for a take-over by other groups.
