Eircom must pay fraction of phone connection fees
07/09/2005 - 17:30:49The communications regulator has ruled that eircom must pay the first €7,000 to connect new phone customers in areas without existing telecommunications infrastructure.
Before now the connection fee has been a matter for negotiation between customers and the phone company.
However, phone users will still have to pay a connection fee of €120 no matter where they live.
The ruling takes effect from October 7.
