ECB leave main rate at record low


The European Central Bank is leaving its main interest rate at a historic low of 0.75%.

The decision was taken at its last policy meeting of 2012 today.

ECB watchers were not expecting the bank to ease borrowing costs this month, as such a move would likely have little effect on the region's recession-hit economy.
