Dawn Meats plant opens in Waterford


A new beef processing facility has officially been opened in Co Waterford.

The Dawn Meats plant is set to process up to 18,000 tonnes of Irish beef annually for McDonald's and produce up to three million hamburgers a day.

The operations were started today by Taoiseach Enda Kenny and executives from the fast-food chain.

Sixty-five new jobs have been created by the investment, as well as more than 100 construction jobs.
