Danske Bank customers have just three days left to withdraw funds

Thousands of customers of Danske Bank are reminded they have just three days to withdraw their money here.

Some 15,000 current accounts are to be terminated this weekend and some customers will be locked-out of their accounts from Monday. Danske said customers will be able to use their ATM cards over the weekend.

Most account holders - about 9,000 - have yet to close them.

Danske Bank announced in October that it was shutting down its Irish retail banking operation. It has defended its handling of the process to close its Irish operations.

A spokesperson said people who had current accounts and savings accounts were given two months notice that their account would be closing.

Updated information

For customers that have current and savings accounts, they will be able to access their funds until February 21.

Customers with accounts including mortgages or custody accounts have not yet been written to and do not need to take any action until they receive a letter from Danske Bank.
