Ireland sees 67,000 rise in overseas tourists
17/05/2006 - 11:21:10In February 2006 there were 458,700 overseas tourists to Ireland, compared with 390,800 in the same month last year, according to a report by the Central Statistics Office.
This is an increase of 67,900.
Up to 415,300 Irish people made went abroad in February compared with 378,000 in February 2005, an increase of 37,300.
The number of visitors from the UK grew by 45,500 in the second month of 2006 on the February 2005 figure of 245,900.
The number of visitors from Europe went up by 21,900 in the same period.
Trips to Ireland by residents of North America grew by 1,000, while the number of visitors from other areas fell by 500, compared with February 2005.
