IHF calls for €50m to boost Shannon region

28/11/2005 - 09:41:14
The Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) has called for an "effective strategic plan with state funding", with a minimum price tag of €50m, to sustain and increase the current level of direct transatlantic air traffic to Shannon airport.

The IHF said the strategy should include a specific ring-fenced marketing provision of at least €10m per year for at least five years to primarily target Shannon’s offering to the North America market and said infrastructural spending must be a priority.

It adds the plan must have a deadline for completion by the end of 2008 when the new US-Ireland air agreement comes fully into effect.
