Govt to unveil details of €20bn transport plan
01/11/2005 - 07:36:44The Government is set to reveal details today of a €20bn plan to develop transport services throughout the country.
The 10-year plan is expected to include provisions for a €3.5bn Metro line connecting Dublin city centre with the airport, as well as the proposed new orbital motorway around the capital.
Both these projects are expected to be developed as controversial public-private partnerships.
Elsewhere, the transport plan is also expected to include the reopening of parts of the western rail corridor, the expansion of services around Cork city and the resumption of some rail services in Co Meath.
