CSO figures reveal large rise in November for sales

There has been a huge rise in the volume of retail sales, according to new data from the Central Statistics Office.

Its figures for November show the amount of sales being 9.3% higher than in the same month a year earlier, and up 2.2% in just one month.

The value of goods sold in November was 5.6% higher than a year earlier.

Household equipment showed the largest annual increase in sales, rising by more than 17%, while food firms experienced the lowest growth at just over 5%.

The sector with the largest monthly increases was Electrical Goods, 13.6%, but Motor Trades suffered the highest fall of 1.2%.
