The Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney has unveiled new plans for a €241m development programme for the seafood sector up to 2020.
The investment package will provide capital to assist seafood enterprises to grow their production and add value to seafood exports.
Coveney has said the seafood sector is worth around €850m annually to the economy, with the potential to grow to €1bn by 2020.
A period of public consultation on the proposals and a strategic environmental assessment will run until the 1st of May.
