Muhtar Kent will step down as chief executive of Coca-Cola next year and be replaced by chief operating officer James Quincey, the drinks giant said.
Mr Kent, who has been chief executive of the beverage maker for about seven years, will leave the job on May 1 and will continue as chairman of the board.
Mr Quincey, 51, has been with the Atlanta-based company for about 20 years.
He was named chief operating officer last year.
