Central Bank predicts growth in GDP

The Central Bank has raised its economic forecast for the year predicting growth of 0.8% in GDP as the export market boosts the Irish economy.

But GNP - which excludes the profits of multinational companies operating in Ireland - will fall by 1%.

The outlook for jobs growth is less positive with the Central Bank predicting that unemployment growth is unlikely to fully stabilise before the end of the year.

The bank also says wage restraint will have to be excercised to keep the economy competitive.
