Cabinet to discuss Aer Lingus sell-off plans next week
28/03/2006 - 09:24:12Minister for Transport Martin Cullen has said he will be bringing plans for the privatisation of Aer Lingus before the cabinet next week.
Trade unions at the national airline are vehemently opposed to the planned sell-off and the effect it will have on jobs and workers' terms and conditions.
They are also concerned about what will happen to a massive deficit in the Aer Lingus pension fund.
SIPTU members have already voted for strike action if the Government presses ahead with the sale without consultation.
However, speaking at Dublin Airport this morning, Mr Cullen said he believed the unions would come on board once the privatisation process beings.
