Center Parcs' plan to build a holiday village in Co. Longford has got approval from An Bord Pleanála.
The body upheld the planning permission granted by Longford County Council for the development of Center Parcs Longford Forest holiday village near Ballymahon, Co. Longford.
Center Parcs have said construction on the project will create 750 jobs and are hoping to open the holiday village in 2019.
It will cater for up to 2,500 guests and employ up to 1,000 people in permanent jobs.
The holiday group expects most of the roles to be filled by people between the ages of 18 and 24, who live in the surrounding midlands region.
Longford/Westmeath TD, Deputy Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran said: "This is just brilliant news for the people of County Longford.
"Longford has been one of those counties that has been hit hardest over the last few years with around 3,900 people on the Live Register.
"Around 500 of those are under the age of 25 years, so these jobs will be most welcome and this morning’s announcement could not come at a better time."
