Almost quarter of small firms expect to cut jobs
08/10/2012 - 12:23:26ISME has said it fears more job losses in SMEs after new figures showed further decline last quarter.
Up to 25% of businesses told the Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association they expect to cut more jobs, mainly because of economic uncertainty.
It comes as another report from the Credit Review Office claims they have created over 800 full time-jobs as a result of taking on banks over loan refusals for SMEs.
In response to that review, the head of business banking at AIB admitted this morning that some of its loan application procedures in the past were "over-engineered" and they have promised to do better.
ISME Chief Executive Mark Fielding has welcomed the CRO's report, but said they have only dealt with the tip of the iceberg.
