Airport braced for busy bank holiday weekend

03/06/2006 - 08:52:03
Tens of thousands of passengers are expected to travel through Dublin Airport today as the Bank Holiday weekend exodus continues.

Over the entire holiday weekend more than 360,000 travellers are expected to move through the airport.

Many people had already booked holidays in sunnier climes after a sun-starved May.

Over 2,200 flights are due to arrive and depart at the airport including 280 charter flights to popular destinations such as Malaga, Lanzarote and Portugal.

Dublin Airport has customer care teams on duty in the terminal over the weekend to deal with the high volume of traffic.

The airport has advised passengers to arrive at check-in at least 90 minutes before their flight departure time.

A spokeswoman for the Dublin Airport Authority said people with e-mail tickets must check-in with their airline or handling agent before proceeding to the passenger security screening area.
