75 new jobs have been announced this morning at three separate companies in Laois, Galway and Longford.

The automotive coatings company Magni Group is creating 50 new jobs in Portarlington, while Flagship Management in Kinvarra is creating 15 new jobs. There are also 10 new positions being created at Ark Energy Consulting in Longford town.

All of the positions have been brought about thanks to the Government's Finder's Fee Initiative, in which €1,500 euro is given to a person for every job created if they persuade a foreign company to set up in Ireland.

The finder's fee will be awarded in all three cases announced today.

Kieran Leavy of P&J Security Business in Portarlington says he managed to get the American R&D facility Magni Group to his home town after hearing about the initiative from Connect Ireland.

Leavy approached a personal friend and businessman in the US, Ted Berry, to persuade him to consider Ireland. He will now receive €75,000 for his efforts, but insists it is not about personal gain.

"I'm a proud Portarlington man - money's not the issue for me. That came after it," he said.

"I happened to mention to him, would he be interested in Ireland, and he said he was thinking of doing something in the Czech Republic, but there was no reason he couldn't look at Ireland," Leavy explained.

Rory Maguire, a partner at Flagship Management, said the 10 new jobs in Kinvarra are down to support from the Government.

"We were looking at a number of different locations … we got a lot of support from Connect Ireland, beyond the call of duty," he said.

"I think that pretty much swung it for the guys in the States."
