Just under 60% of Bank of Ireland shareholders have taken up their rights to buy new shares under the bank's rights issue.
The issue includes shares which the State was entitled to buy through the National Pensions Reserve Fund Commission.
The share issue was aimed at raising €1.9bn. The bank will now attempt to fund buyers for the remaining shares.
