Tesco Ireland is to create 200 jobs over the next year with the opening of new shops.
The supermarket chain plans to open seven new stores and also set up six in-store mobile phone shops.
New express convenience outlets are planned for Douglas Road, Cork; College Green, Dorset Street, Leonards Corner and Glasnevin Avenue in Dublin.
Some 120 of the new jobs will be in Dundalk and Honeypark, Dun Laoghaire, next year when stores open.
The phone shops will be located in Tesco stores in Maynooth, Tallaght, Drogheda, Clearwater and Clarehall in Dublin and Wilton in Cork.
Tesco Ireland CEO Philip J Clarke said: “These permanent new jobs and new stores will help boost local economic activity at a difficult time for the Irish economy.”
