Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Leo Varadkar has said that tomorrow's Budget is "not going to be the toughest" compared to previous years.
The Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform Ministers respectively will outline the €3.5bn in tax hikes and spending cuts in the Dáil tomorrow afternoon.
Minister Varadkar said today that it will not be the toughest of recent years, but he admitted that it comes on top of five very tough Budgets.
"It's going to be a difficult Budget, it’s not going to be the toughest Budget, or as tough as it was in recent years," he said.
"But it is on top of five very tough Budgets, so cumulative effect of that is going to be very difficult for people.
"But we are 85% of the way there now.
"We're very close, on top of the mountain - but of course, things get harder at the top, it gets steeper and the air gets thinner, but we're almost there."
