UK schoolboy banned from Movember charity bid

A British schoolboy has been banned from growing a moustache for charity because fellow pupils will not be able to do the same.

Gus Hooker, 13, was told he could not grow his facial hair for Movember – which sees men grow a moustache throughout November to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK – because it is not an "inclusive" activity.

The youngster was keen to raise cash for the aid organisation after his grandfather recently beat cancer.

He told BBC News: "Because I can grow a moustache, I reckon that if I did it I could raise a fair bit. I just wanted to show off my moustache, everyone wanted me to go for it."

But a spokesperson for the Priory Academy said it is only able to support "entirely inclusive" activities.
