German police mistake actor for thief
23/04/2012 - 17:25:22Police in Germany have arrested an actor who was pretending to be a jewel thief.
Aaron Defant was mistakenly identified as the culprit in Stuttgart after a member of the public watched a re-enactment of the crime on 'Aktenzeichen XY' five weeks earlier, The Local reports.
Presenter Rudi Cerne believes the mistake occurred because the actor looks so similar to the real criminal, but he admitted it's the first time such an error happened.
He explained: "Maybe it's because the actor looked very similar to the real criminal."
