Body recovered off West Cork

A body has been recovered in the water off West Cork this afternoon.

The alarm was raised at lunchtime today when a boat was spotted overturned near Gurranes, west of Castletownbere.

The body was found at around 2pm this afternoon, after a search was launched around lunchtime for a man missing after his boat capsized.

Valentia Coastguard co-ordinated the search operation for the sole occupant of the boat and Castletownbere Lifeboat was also launched to assist.

It's the fourth body to be recovered from the sea in a matter of days.

On Tuesday, the body of John O'Leary was recovered from Cod Head, while on the same day the bodies of fishermen Michael Galvin and Noel Dickinson were recovered from the sea near Spanish Point in Co. Clare.
