Samsung-Apple battle comes to High Court
A battle between technology giants Samsung and Apple over a patent used in some smartphones and tablet computers has come to the High Court.
Samsung is trying to enforce a judgement delivered by a Dutch court in June against an unlimited Apple company (Apple Sales International), which registered in Ireland.
The court heard the matter has to be addressed soon, under the terms of the order.
In June, a court in The Hague ordered Apple to pay damages to Samsung for a patent infringement.
It relates to technology used in some Apple phones and tablet computers to connect to the internet and is part of a wider struggle between the technology giants.
Apple claims that Korea-based Samsung has "slavishly" copied its products.
Today, lawyers for Samsung applied to the High Court to enforce the Dutch judgment here in order to get information from Ireland-registered Apple Sales International that will allow for damages to be assessed.
However the matter, which is supposed to go before the master of the High Court, has been put back as the courts are for the most part in recess for the summer.
