Phoenix Park device 'potentially dangerous'
A device the Army made safe in the Phoenix Park in Dublin this morning was "potentially dangerous".
The improvised explosive device was found in the area of the Ordinance Survey road, after an alert was raised by the Gardaí last night.
Disposal operations did not begin until first light, with the team making the device safe and declaring the alert over at about 10.40am this morning.
It comes after last weekend's major bomb find outside Newry where authorities said that 600lbs device would have killed anyone in the immediate area.
Down south, the alert in Dublin was the 75th call-out for the bomb disposal team this year.
Commandant Denis Hanley, the Defence Forces Press Officer, said the figures are "not out of the ordinary".
