Power adds to Kilkenny's injury concerns

Richie Power will find out tomorrow morning if he is set to miss Kilkenny's Leinster SHC semi-final in June, after sustaining a knee injury in club action last night.

Power fell awkwardly after contesting a high ball while in action for his club Carrickshock in the closing stages of their Kilkenny Senior Hurling League encounter against James Stephens in Thomastown.

Kilkenny manager Brian Cody was among the attendance for the game in which Carrickshock won by the minimum margin on a 1-15 to 2-11 scoreline.

The 26-year-old clutched his left knee immediately after suffering the blow.

He was stretchered off with suspected knee ligament damage.

Power today received treatment in an ice chamber at Whites Hotel in Wexford and is definitely ruled out of next Sunday's Allianz Hurling League Division 1 final against Cork.

It is the latest injury setback for the Kilkenny panel after another of their forwards, Aidan Fogarty, sustained a broken left wrist in training last week.
