Heroin accused duo set to appear in court again next week.


Two men charged over a €1.5m heroin seizure in Dublin last week appeared in court again today.

Edward Rooney (52) and 64-year-old Des Ryan had been charged last week following a heroin seizure when a car had been stopped and searched by gardaí at Old North Road, Finglas, on April 5.

Mr Rooney of Ballinacorribeg, Roundwood, Co Wicklow had been granted bail of €5,000,on the condition that he signs on daily at Wicklow garda station.

Mr Ryan with an address at Belfield Springs in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford was granted bail of €10,000 with a condition that he signs on at his local garda station.

Both had been charged last week under section the Misuse of Drugs Act with possession of heroin and possession of the drug for sale or supply and have already been ordered to surrender their passports.

Today at Cloverhill District Court, Judge John Lindsay further remanded Mr Ryan in custody with consent to bail until April 19.

His co-defendant, Mr Rooney, who is on bail, was also ordered to appear on the same date.
