2% rise in price of good and services


The price of goods and services here rose by over 2%, in the year to March.

That is according to new figures that were released today by the CSO.

The biggest increases over the year were in Education costs, Transport and Alcohol and Tobacco.

While household furnishings and clothing both decreased in price.

Austin Hughes is Chief Economist with KBC Bank:

"The overall inflation rate, even over the two years, isn't up hugely", he said

"…the prices of things like energy which hits so many elements of heating, transport and that, that is having a big impact on the standard of peoples living".
