Man arrested in connection with body find at Cavan hospital

A man in his 40s has been arrested today after the discovery of a body at Cavan General Hospital.

A man in his 40s has been arrested today after the discovery of a body at Cavan General Hospital.

The body of the 82-year-old male patient was found at the psychiatric unit of the hospital at around 7am this morning.

Staff at the psychiatric unit of Cavan General hospital alerted gardaí to the discovery of the body.

The area was immediately been sealed off and the HSE and the gardaí have launched investigations.

A man in his 40s, understood also be a patient at the hospital, has since been arrested as part of the inquiry.

A post mortem will take place on the body later to establish the exact cause of death.
