Dublin Zoo's newest addition has finally been named, and he's called Kituba.

The baby, born nearly two months ago, is a critically endangered western lowland gorilla.

Kituba is one of the languages spoken in the gorillas' homeland of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Thousands of visitors to Dublin Zoo and its Facebook page suggested names, based on the animal's West African origin.

Meanwhile, the zoo says the baby gorilla is thriving and they expect that his mother Lena will let him out of her arms to explore very soon.
