Treacle takes Troytown test
18/11/2009 - 13:54:49Munster National hero Treacle will bid for more big-race honours in the Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan on Sunday.
Tom Taaffe’s eight-year-old stayed on strongly to win Limerick’s biggest prize of the season on October 11.
His trainer is now hoping Treacle can establish himself as a realistic Grand National contender, starting with a bold display at the weekend.
“Treacle will run on Sunday and did a nice bit of work this morning, so hopefully he can put up a similar performance to the one he put up in the Munster National,” Taaffe told At The Races.
“We obviously have Aintree in mind for him so we’ll see how Sunday goes and work out a plan after that.”
