Kerry hospital to keep full A&E department
18/11/2009 - 11:41:29Kerry is to retain a full emergency department following a review by the HSE.
There had been fears the unit at Kerry General Hospital in Tralee would be downgraded.
The hospital is to get a new medical assessment and admissions unit, while highly trained advanced paramedics are to be deployed across the county to respond to emergency calls.
Acute ambulances will also be freed up through the introduction of other vehicles which will be used to transfer patients between hospitals in the region.
