McGeady relishing 'big game' atmosphere

14/11/2009 - 11:21:12
Republic of Ireland midfielder Aiden McGeady has said that he is looking forward to the World Cup play-off against France today because of the atmosphere around the game.

The Celtic midfielder was asked about the recent responses of the media in Glasgow criticising the Bhoys for the poor performances.

The winger said: "We have been taking a bit of stick, but we have come into an atmosphere where everybody is buzzing, you look forward to the game.

"It hasn't been like that in Glasgow. It's a game I am looking forward to and I think everybody else in the squad is also."

But he refuted suggestions that the criticism has made him feel down.

McGeady said: "I just get down when I know I have not played well. I don't take too much notice of the stick we have been getting."
