Kidney: Honest endeavour will get us past Wallabies

14/11/2009 - 12:19:26
Ireland coach Declan Kidney has said that the expectations on his Irish side "need to be managed" as they face the Wallabies on Sunday.

The Corkman said: "The expectations need to be managed by the media. We are a good team, we won a few matches last year by one score.

"Hopefully the confidence that last year gave us and the work we have added on can give us that few extra points on Sunday.

"We will just have to see if that is good enough against Australia."

Kidney, who selected Paddy Wallace instead of Gordon D'Arcy for the game on Sunday, believes that they have done the hard work to succeed on Sunday.

Kidney said: "I believe we have a great sporting public who know an honest endeavour and I think if we can go about our business that way on Sunday, I think the majority will live with it."
